The Mona Social
Mona Vale, Australia
2025
Mona Social is a 300-seat bar and bistro perched atop Mona Vale Golf Club in Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Once a function space, it’s been transformed into a country-club-inspired bar and bistro, overlooking coastal greens and seaside.
The redesign delivers a warm, contemporary hospitality space balancing refined comfort with sociable energy. Bathed in natural light, the interior features layered timber floors, soft cream walls, and a striking timber coffered ceiling that establishes rhythm and warmth.
We also conceived the brand’s visual identity as a fan-like golf club motif capturing the venue’s spirit. This symbol informed both spatial details and marketing collateral, tying the experience together.
Mid-century notes appear in caramel leather seating, slender metal frames, and soft globe pendants. A curved, richly tiled bar anchors the space, encouraging gathering, while open shelving and backlit details add depth. Lush greenery softens the geometry, reinforcing the landscape connection.
Honouring The Boathouse Group’s approachable-yet-elevated aesthetic, Mona Social is envisioned as a layered social hub that’s perfect for long lunches, sunset drinks, and lively evenings, where thoughtful materiality meets timeless charm.
